I'm grateful that I've been given this opportunity to stand here as a spokesman. Facing all of you on the stage, I have the exciting feeling of participating in this speech competition. The topic today is WHAT WE CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE. If you ask me this question, I must tell you that I think the answer is a word---- responsibility.
In my elementary years, there was a little girl in the class who worked very hard, however she could never do satisfactorily in her lessons. The teacher asked me to help her, and it was obvious that she expected a lot from me. But as a young boy, I was so restless and thoughtless, I always tried to get more time to play and enjoy myself. So she was always slighted over by me.
One day before the final exam, she came up to me and said, "Could you please explain this to me I can not understand it. I just want a good score". I started explaining, and finished in a hurry because I made an appointment with my friend to play computer games together. Not surprisingly, she again did very badly in the exam. After that, she began to dislike me and said no words to me. It let me feel very bad. Maybe it is a little thing to you now, but I was about eight or nine years old at that time, in a way, it was the very starting point of my life, for I began to understand the word "responsibility" and to learn to always do my duties faithfully. Gradually, I had learnt the truly meaning of the “responsibility”---- the mutual need and trust of people, the co-operation and inter-reliance.
Later in my life, I continued to experience many failures. But never again did I feel (这里用的是倒装，是亮点哟，亲)that regret for myself. I am satisfied with myself to fulfill my responsibilities as best I can.
Nowadays, this society has become more and more modern. New buildings, new commodities and new fashions appear every day. New ideas, new information, new technologies are be found every day, too. People can talk with each other from any corner of the earth in a matter of seconds. Society is becoming more competitive.
Yet we still face a lot of problems. We learn that crimes take place in broad daylight with crowds of people looking on and not assisting. We hear that there are still about 1 million children in this country who can't even afford to go to elementary schools while enormous sums of money are being squandered away on dinner parties and luxury cars. We buy shoddy medicines, or merely
worthless junk. Many people believe, is the most important thing in the world that must be made, even at the expense of morality and responsibility.
Today’s society determines that we are a generation with a keener sense of competition and efficiency and a greater readiness to think critically and act creatively. BUT, we all forget there is a most important thing is our responsibility, a responsibility to the society, a responsibility to our family, even a responsibility to ourselves. If we lose this thing that we will change into that person we once hate it.
Probably I'll be an ordinary man for the rest of my life. But this doesn't discourage me any, for I know that with my sense of responsibility and devoted efforts to always strive, for the best, it's going to be a meaningful and worthwhile life that I will be living.
Standing here now, I also remember my responsibility. Today, I must finish my speech, and tomorrow, I must study hard for myself. We cannot evade the responsibility, and we cannot let people down. So, everyone must embalm our own responsibilities, whatever they are small or big, now, right now, to accomplish our responsibility, and in the end, to realize our dreams. Because the responsibility is what we cannot afford to lost.

Living in the Global Village, to keep safety and peace is our inescapable responsibility. There is no doubt that we are too small to be noticed. Nevertheless I do believe that a little sparks may kindle a great fire. If each of us knows how to live in peace of others or other countries, anger will fade away and hurts of wars will go .If each of us come to realize that the protection of environment can no longer be waited, the tears of regret will never belong to us.
Responsibility, it seems to be cold like a rock, a burden. But when we step into the society, responsibility, as an adult gift, has been quietly landed on our back and we must take it in our hands without other choices. We might feel a little bit helpless, but sometimes it is the helpless feeling that drives us forward and we can become a real man step by step. Gradually, when we see enough of the world and after the baptism of time, we will get to know the true meaning of responsibility and realize we are really alive.

I simply couldn't forget her eyes, which seem to be asking, "Why didn't you do a little more to help me, when it was so easy for you Why didn't you understand a little better the trust placed in you, so that I would not have to leave this world in such pain and regret"
I was about eight or nine years old at that time, but in a way it was the very starting point of my life, for I began to understand the word "responsibility" and to learn to always do my duties faithfully and devotedly, for the implications of that sacred word has dawned on me: the mutual need and trust of people, the co-operation and inter-reliance which are the very foundation of human society.
Later in my life, I continued to experience many failures. But never again did I feel that regret which struck me at the death of the girl, for it makes my heart satisfied to think that I have always done everything in my power to fulfill my responsibilities as best I can.
As I grew up, changed and improved by this incident and many other similar ones, I began to perceive the changes taking place around me and to find that society, in a way, was in its formative years like myself. New buildings, new commodities and new fashions appear every day.

Last year I learned a lot of things. However, the most important is the attitude which our staffs should be owned- dare undertake responsibility.

For example, it is the first time work in petrochemcal main company for our company. So every work details need to learn. As new stuff, I begin to learn new method about antiseptic with my teacher. We have looked up about 50 standards book to confirm the constructing detail, and we stay at the construction site to teach the worker. In this way, we fulfil all tasks. Actually, developing new method is equal to developing yourself.
Secondly, do not afraid of suffer from nervous and busy work. Since XX,our company begin to apply Delicacy Management. We all know that working at project department take no any holiday, every workmates are so busy. But we still should abandon the extensive management , and learning the method of delicacy management. Maybe it will cost a lot of

Instead of doubting yourself, think positively. Not only will you be happier and more successful, you’ll spread it to everyone around you.

2 – Stop Being Negative
停止消极
Now that you’re done doubting yourself, stop doubting others. You don’t like when people are critical of you, so stop being critical of others. Think about how you make other people feel – even if you have good intentions, people don’t like hearing negativity.
现在你不要再怀疑自己了，也别再怀疑身边的人。你不希望被人对你挑剔，那么也不要再去挑剔身边的人。想想你给别人带来的什么样的感受吧——即使出发点是好的，别人也不想听到那么多消极的事情呀。
3 – Stop Procrastinating
停止拖延
I don’t feel like procrastinating right now – I’ll do it
tomorrow. When you procrastinate, you remain stagnant. Whatever you’re putting off doesn’t go away; resolve the problem, and move on. You’ll be much happier in the long run.
我现在不想做，还是留到明天吧。一旦开始拖延，其实你已经停滞不前了。你拖延的事情不会自行解决。解决问题，继续前行吧。从长远角度来说你会更加快乐。
4 – Stop Being Mean
不要那么刻薄
It’s completely possible to step on someone’s toes without meaning to – it happens all the time. There’s no need to pile on by purposefully doing mean things, so make a conscious effort to stop being mean. If someone wrongs you, let it go. There’s no need to seek vengeance unless that’s the type of person you want to be.
无意踩到别人的情况真的有可能会发生——常常会发生。但没必要去处心积虑的做一些不好的事情，所以要有意识地让自己不要那么刻薄。如果有人对你无理地对待，随他们去好了。没必要去报复，除非你

5 – Stop Eating Out

Eating out is the biggest waste of money. Every so often it’s nice to treat yourself, but eating out for every meal is the quickest way to drain your bank account. Learn how to cook at least a handful of foods you enjoy: It’ll save you money, keep you healthier, and occasionally impress people.
在外面吃饭真的非常非常的浪费钱。也许每次对于你而言都是一次犒赏，但每顿都在外面吃反而是花光积蓄的最快方式。至少也去学学怎么做一些自己喜欢的菜：既能省钱，还能让你更健康，还会让其他人眼前一亮。
6 – Stop Being Lazy
不要再偷懒
Lazy people are annoying – it’s like pulling teeth getting
them to do anything. If I can’t do something as simple as going to a movie with you without having to factor in an hour of convincing you to get your lazy butt out of bed, I’d rather go alone. People have enough trouble motivating themselves; don’t make your friends and family waste their valuable energy motivating you as well.
懒人真的很招人烦——得像赶驴磨墨一样逼着他们做事情。如果我想跟你看一场电影，却不得不花一个小时说服你起床，那我宁愿一个人去看。给自己动力都不是件容易的事情，就别让朋友和家人浪费宝贵的精力再来给你动力了吧。
7 – Stop Complaining

We all have problems, and sometimes we need to vent to someone. That’s acceptable, but pay attention to how often you’re venting. We all love helping our friends and family, but when all you get from someone is negativity, it’s easier to cut them off than help, especially if they’re always complaining about the same things.

Social Responsibility
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I am so glad to stand here as a lecturer of English speech contest. Now I am a graduate student in college of chemistry and chemical engineering.
As a citizen with a sense of social responsibility, one should mainly possess the following characters—sticking to the right moral proposal or truth; sticking to the principle of justice; hoping to make dedication and sacrifice for others.
Nowadays, less and less people have a sense of social responsibility and they hardly take it into consideration. What a pity! Our country is really big, but not strong enough. As we all know, a country’s prosperity has a close relationship with people’s social responsibility. If we don’t have a strong social responsibility, how can we Chinese beat back the Japanese aggressors and liberate our country How can we conquer natural disasters In contrast, because of the lack of social responsibility, people are not as honest as they are once and this causes the appearance of anti-social phenomenon.
In our human history, there are so many people with strong social responsibilities, from Confucius to Marx and Engels, from Einstein to Hawking. Each of them has made a great contribution to the development of society and the advance of humans.
We praise those people have a strong social responsibility and we also criticize those who don’t. Nevertheless, it is better for us to take actions from our own. No matter how important the thing is, we should always do it with strong responsibility.
If every citizen on the earth presents a strong social responsibility, we humans will not fight any more and our world will be more harmonious, no poverty, no starvation, and no AIDS. And if we Chinese have a patriotic sense of social responsibility, people will live more happily, our country will become stronger and receive more respects from different foreign friends.
