英语专业教育实习心得体会
As an English major, I had always known that a period of practical training was a necessary part of earning my degree. When I received the opportunity to intern at a local middle school, I knew it would be a meaningful way to put what I had learned in the classroom into action.
My internship experience was both exciting and challenging. In this essay, I will reflect on my overall experience and the key things I learned during this internship.
First and foremost, I was struck by how much I had to adjust to the unique environment of a middle school. Even though I had been a student in middle school years ago, acting as a teacher in front of a classroom of students gave me a new sense of appreciation for what teachers do. I had to learn quickly how to engage with my students and make the material I was teaching relevant to their lives.
I also came to appreciate the importance of hard work and planning. There is no doubt that teaching can be a demanding profession, and I witnessed firsthand how much preparation is involved in making a successful lesson plan. The more I explored different teaching methods, the more I realized how much work it takes to tailor a lesson to different students' needs and abilities.
Another crucial lesson I learned was to adapt to the needs of my students. English is a complex subject, and everyone has their own way of interpreting texts and their own writing styles. Therefore, I had to figure out how to assist my students without writing the essay for them. Encouraging them to think critically and creatively was a challenge I knew I had to overcome. By the end of my internship, I was proud of how I had improved as a teacher, and how my students had learned new and exciting ways to express themselves.
One of the challenges I had to face was dealing with difficult students. It taught me how to remain patient and calm under pressure when dealing with tricky behavior. Instead of fighting fire with fire, I learned to approach them calmly and offer options that allowed them to manage themselves. By the time the internship ended, those students had transformed into more content and cooperative students.
Throughout the internship, it was indispensable to communicate both with my students and colleagues. I recognize now that effective communication is fundamental to creating a positive learning environment. I learned how to listen to my students' needs and learn to effectively respond without losing control of the overall learning process. Communication also led to great ideas and strategies which improved my teaching approach.
Overall, the three months I spent in my internship taught me a lot about teaching and education. I learned how to adapt to different students' needs, how to work hard to create a successful lesson plan, and how to communicate effectively with different people in my working environment. As I take these experiences into the future, I know that they will be valuable assets as I continue to work in the field of education.
